Les Trois Chemins

The Three Chimneys is a pub close to my Mum's house.

I'd never put two and two together about difference between the name and the sign - a corruption of the translation of the original name "the three wents", given to it by French prisoners during the Seven Years War.

In the background are the cowls of a couple of Oast Houses (originally for drying hops, now bijou country living...) The prancing horses on them derive from "Invicta" - the motto of Kent, probably something that should be referred to trading standards, as there is probably no other county in England that has been tramped through by the boots of so many invading armies...
