Snips and Snaps

Lower Rivington Reservoir

Progress on the mobility front, but not up to the Anglezarke Amble for which I had an entry. Shame because it turned into a bit of a blipmeet with Runhills, Blackrodlad and IWC completing the 24+ miles.

It would have been a hard morning's running in very cold icy conditions with apparently three people suffering broken arms due to falls on the route. May have had a lucky escape!

Instead I took an easy walk along the Res, passing Go Ape and down to the folley constructed by Lord Leverhulme in 1912. This is a scale replica of the original which existedfromthe 13th to 18th century. The castle was built to protect King John's new port of Liverpool and was sited at the top of modern day Lord Street, the highest point in the city and overlooking the Pool. This corresponds to present day Derby Square (Queen Victoria Monument) near the city centre.
