Cowichan Bay has a newly built maritime centre. The woodwork and the timbers are an attraction in themselves. This houses a display of model boats and wooden boats like a row boat and a First Nations canoe.

Twice have I worked on a fishing trawler. The centre has a set of gurdies on display.
