Ray of sunshine on Princes Street

She said she was a nun from the temple at Lesmahagow, and she asked if I'd like to make a donation.

So I asked her if I could take her picture. She said yes, and asked me if I'd call out Gouranga.

I duly called it out, and then gave her a blip card. Seemed like a fair exchange.

The effect of the "Gouranga" and her sunny smile did make me happy ... right up until my train was cancelled. As hordes of passengers stood crammed into a later train, waiting to pull out of Waverley, the guard said over the tannoy, "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. This is the..." at which point he stopped.

I think he kind of summed it up.
