an itching in my thumbs

37. trails

i have not run everywhere, but i have run a lot of places in america, and i find that two of my favorite and most accessible trails are here in texas.

it is important to me that where i live have easy access to running that can be enjoyed easily - bonus points if this means mostly trail with few stoplights. though i loved boston, the charles river trail is not fully plowed in the wintertime (which means it's basically unusable for 4 to 5 months).

my favorite run still remains town lake trail in austin, the 4 mile loop. there is something so great about that trail - and it's long, too, with so many options, and remarkably well maintained as well.

trinity trail here in fort worth could be better at some points but is mostly a wonderful resource. as i mentioned before in this series, green spaces are taken seriously here in texas and that often means trails are as well. though many other towns and cities have great ones (chicago included) i am partial to the ones we have here.
