Summers here!

The seaside shops have the buckets and spades out, candy floss and ice cream are on sale and the smell of fish and chips floats past on the breeze.

Wait a minute, its just Valentines day, the 14th February, Ah yes its half term.

Us oldies whose children have long past that stage forget about these mid-term holidays. There was Val and I just popping down to Lyme for a quiet stroll along the front, out of season. What's all these people, children too??

Then the old grey matter started to click in. Here were young mums and dads and the little ones, all dressed like they were off to the Arctic, determinedly sat on the cold sands, building their sand castle's, I must admit though, the families we saw, it was the mum and dad doing the building and the kids sat around looking cold and glum.

It was great fun to watch them. Us, we are off to the Standard. Those fish and chips smelt nice
