How I Live Now

Sweetheart come

A Valentine's love (?) story.

In 1909, mother-of-two Emma Hauck was diagnosed with schizophrenia and admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Heidelberg. Talking incessantly about her family, she wrote letters to her husband Mark, repeating 'Herzensschatzi komm' (sweetheart come) over and over and over and over again, thousands of times.

Her letters were never sent and she died in the asylum 11 years later.
