festivals #6

yes, i do actually go to fringe festival shows! i'm just very picky about what i see. first show of this year is one i saw last year - a concert, in fact, 'faure by candlelight' at old st paul's church, with hundreds of these wee tealights balanced on ledges around the church. 'cantique de jean racine', 'requiem' and some other bits and pieces. all very nice.

i doubt you'd believe it to see me now, but when i was at school i was in the choir and we sang a whole bunch of stuff like and including these. most memorably, we sang for mass and did our own concert over easter weekend in notre dame in paris about 15-16 years ago. singing when you're surrounded by singers is fab; when you're singing complex church music harmony it's even more fab, and when it's in surroundings like notre dame... well, you get the idea. haven't sung a note in years, but every now and again i get a bit wistful...
