Ocotillo Branch

Ocotillo branches look like dead sticks with thorns most of the year. However, when they see moisture, such as yesterday's snow and rain, they quickly develop leaves to let photosynthesis add extra growth and life to the plant. Also note the greening of the stem. This is all part of the strategy of survival in the desert. These plants also make excellent barrier hedges.

Went to Family Tree Maker Class this afternoon and became more familiar with searching.
