Night Errant by Richard McWhannell, 1994

First run in the city (town) since Friday. Early start at the office meant an early run, and the sun did not emerge until I was nearly home. On the way back through Grey Lynn Park, I finally worked out how to take a photo of this sculpture I frequently run past.

I have chosen to present it in silhouette, along with the tall trees behind it, and with the backdrop of a quiet morning sunrise.

This is one of the group of sculptures in this large park created by local artists. It is carved from wood, and was shifted to this hillside position above one of the main rugby fields, in 2007. He is positioned to look as if he is sliding down the hill.
