Nightmare

Our friends C. and D. had returned from a short trip to Italy yesterday evening. On their arrival, they found all the floors covered in 5 cms of water and enormous holes in the ceiling of several rooms before the lights went out. A water-carrying pipe in the attic had burst because of the heavy frost. The insulation soaked up the water until its weight made the ceilings come down. Now they are staying with us until they can move to somewhere else dry and warm.
