Medium Speed Train

Happened upon a pedestrian crossing over this railway line on a first visit to Copmanthorpe, near York. Very near to a newish housing estate.

A local dad with his young daughter on his shoulders told me that they regularly come to watch the trains, with typically 7 or 8 passing in a fifteen minute period. He was explaining to her about the red and green lights for pedestrians, and she was taking it all in.

Presumably it is the East Coast Main Line. Certainly some very fast trains came by, using the overhead electricity and there were also slow moving goods trains.

And lots of 'ordinary' diesel trains like this one.
