Record

It's a record! Pictured are 12 of the 14 Ambulances that were at a certain northern hospital all at the same time. This equates to the capacity of a city and about five surrounding towns. The same hospital made the news too. It has been normal practice for this Private Finance Initiative establishment to simply close it's doors to ambulances when they were full. Apparently it isn't the capacity in A&E it's the onward bed situation.

It was decided that the new hospital didn't need the same or more, capacity than the old one and it could manage with 100 less beds.

The plan was that there would be alternative 'pathways' and more patients would be left at home. Who could guess that wouldn't work?

So now the Strategic Health Authority are rumoured to be fining the hospital for any breaches of service. Perhaps this is why there hasn't been a divert today?
