Cambridge punts awaiting brave customers

The Cam was icy, the punt pilots were offering hot-water bottles to customers, and there were actually a surprising number of takers.
Personally, wild horses wouldn't have dragged me on to a punt in -8 degrees C.
I know that old hands at serious-weather will scoff, but this is the coldest temperature I've ever experienced outside the French Alps. And, of course, the cry goes up: 'We aren't geared up for it'. Of course we aren't. Why would we be?
Cambridge was really beautiful in the intense cold, and the journey there from East Bedfordshire was quite surreal, with trees covered in crystals looking like white coral against the blue sky.
We were taking our Danish friends, Lisa and Jon, to show them Cambridge, and we were extremely lucky to have such a beautiful day.
