Black Buoy

We went to Caernarfon today for a wander I took a few obligatory castle shots but thought this had a bit more of a story, the castle will still be there another day.

On the plaque on the wall it reads as follows:

In the towns heyday as a port Northgate Street was at the heart of the red light district.
It's Wesh name "Stryd Pedwar a Chwech" literally translates to Four & Six Street which in old shillings and pence is what a sailor had to pay for a room, a bottle of gin and a woman for the night
The street contains the Black Boy Inn which it is claimed to date back to 1522.
One theory regarding the name is that it is after a black buoy that used to be found in the harbour

Sounds like a bargain!
