St John's Head, Hoy

A walk along the shore from Stromness to Warebeth and back. Although it seemed to snow for much of last night; the high winds seemed to prevent it lying. During the walk, waves of hail or 'pinhead' type snow would whip from the north. I was glad I'd really wrapped up. There were some very impressive clouds.

A beautiful male hen harrier was over the shore right by the town and, in the harbour, I watched a drake red-breasted merganser struggle to swallow a flatfish before two gulls could steal it.
