the world is wide open

8:30am and paused on the cycle to work.

A mostly disturbed night of attempted sleep resulted in a mostly later than ideal departure for work.

Mrs theWeir and we talking last night about how we felt like we were in a bit of a fight at the moment. I almost felt isolated. Not due to abandonment or being ignored, but lacking the right ways to connect. Almost numb.

When you face rough patches in life, it's often hard to keep perspective and to remember the vapour-like qualities of time. That life isn't for hiding away or closing off.

It's times like this - and times nothing like this - that I'm grateful for faith. For a confident expectation in an eternity that outlasts the temporary moments of trail. It's more than a mere hope.

And the support of friends and family helps tremendously too.

My Dad said something profoundly helpful about the fight we are feeling;

"The fight of course is not against... but for faith"

Whatever you face, you don't have to face it alone. There's a hope of freedom on the other side.
