The witch's tree

Got up and walked the dog round the village before breakfast, taking a route up to 'the witch's tree' - a lone tree on top of a grass mound, which is steeped in local legend.

Said goodbye to Rob's gran, then caught the bus into Inverness for the 2:20 bus back to Edinburgh. Met up with Fiona and Keith again, and took in the clock in the mall - every hour, it chimes with the movement of the various animals clinging to it's face. It had apparently been a slow morning for Keith and Fiona - they'd already waited to see it chime twice!

Turned up at the bus station to be told that our bus had a puncture, so we'd have to get the next one. Wasn't so bad, as the next one was the express that only stopped at Perth, and so got into Edinburgh before the bus we were meant to get! This gave us the opportunity to take in an amazing second hand book shop, with a café and woodburning stove at it's centre. Would have happily spent a few hours sipping coffee and browsing!

Back to the bus station, and onto the bus with no problems. All was going well until there was a crash on the A9 just after Pitlochry, and we sat about in traffic for about an hour before we were diverted round.

Back in Edinburgh, got some food and headed over to Fay's house to eat a couple of pancakes and watch the second Lord of the Rings. Would have liked to fall asleep during it, but the dramatic music prevented me from much more than a snooze. Cycled back at 1 with Tom, and somehow managed not to get to bed until 2.

Flight back to Bristol tomorrow night!
