Mr D (not the resident one, the other one) is a very old friend who has been visiting from Queensland for the last ten days. We saw him off on the train this morning.
D is also for:
Delightful Discourse - inevitable with a man who remembers everything he's ever read, but maintains that in conversation "you're here to be entertained, not educated", which justifies completely making things up...

Differential equations, which he does for fun!

Duffle bag
Desert hat (very large size - to fit on a head that contains a brain the size of a planet)
Displacer of jobs (i.e. the ticket machine, which is nine times slower (I've timed it) at dispensing tickets than the live person in the ticket office - so not more efficient nor convenient for passengers, just cheaper.)
Debris-free platform - because we still have a Station Master, although not for long if Railway cost-cutting continues to continue.
Diabolically Disobedient naughty boys - this Mr D and the resident Mr D (according to their own folklore), when they were young Daredevils. They kind of still are, really...
