Murmeration on the levels

Not the best photo of the Somerset starling hoards but it's really difficult to capture how spectacular a sight this is. Hundreds of thousands of eastern European and Scandinavian starlings over winter on the Somerset Levels and come to Shapwick Heath to roost at dusk. I've been to see them a few times but this is the first time I've remembered a camera (not very Blippy!) a still camera doesn't do justice to the way all of your senses are involved in being there - especially the incredible sound of their wings as they stream over your head, and their chattering once they're on the ground. It is breathtaking!
