Between fen and mountains

South Holland Centre

Yesterday a few people commented on how the photo I posted yesterday looked like a typical, traditional market town. This building is a few doors away. It caused a furore when the historic Corn Exchange was demolished and this centre built in the 1970's. The building is airy inside and pleasant with a cinema and cafe but the appearance of the town centre was definitely compromised. The building also houses, visible in the photo, a carillon and there are not many of those in the UK. I have heard the carillons in Spalding and Perpignan and can't say I find them musically very appealing. As for the building, you can make up your own minds as to whether it is attractive or not.
