world in a grain of sand

snowdropville

My elder daughter is home for a few days, visiting from Berlin, where the temperature is still hovering around zero. So we took her over to Burford to remind her of what she's missing in the English countryside! A friend had recommended this village for snowdrops - I have never seen them growing so thickly. They fill the churchyard and what little space they leave is taken by tiny wild cyclamen. After visiting the peaceful Norman church, we wandered down a stream bordered lane to find snowdrops clustered with aconites and crocuses.
She's off to Brixton now to a party - clearly had enough clean air!
