Neither component is designed for being this way round but a quick test (the morning after swapping things round, after the buggered washing-machine stole some of the evening) shows that it will be workable and will permit the use of a cheaper friction-shift bar-end shifter and simple brake to replace the non-fully-functional triple-specific STI. A combination of the lack of grippy tape and the absence of soomething to press sideways against with my three distal fingers makes it feel weird bit I can still climb, descend, bunnyhop potholes and pop up the kerb through the front gate.
