Proper Progress

This picture I know doesn't look much but I took it because it shows such progress on behalf of this little chap. He is a Highland Pony foal who was extremely scared and would flee from any human, when I first met him before Christmas. He had come into the world and had a traumatic arrival. What an experience to be born into, feeling you are fighting for your life.
His owner and I have been working with him regularly since then and he has made such progress. We are feeling really good :-) :-) :-)
He was cowering in the corner when I first met him, whites of eyes showing, shaking and sweating and would leap away in a blind panic if you tried to approach him.
Look at the little chap in this photo ! Looking at me happily, no whites of eyes, choosing to be with be with us, relaxed, wearing a headcollar and a lead rope and letting us handle him and he is now learning about being led about. He is still very shy but is learning more and more each day if we take things at his pace, letting him work it out and then he chooses to do as we ask.
Last week he had his first injection and stood quiet for that on a loose rein throughout. Excellent vet waited until I felt it a good and safe time to approach!
So just had to share this photo which says so much to those of us who have had the steep learning curve with him. and a huge thank you to the methods of Monty Roberts and the teachings of Kelly Marks.
