Leap!

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone
That has twenty-eight days clear
And twenty-nine in each leap year.

LEAP YEAR

Superstition tells us that Leap Years are good for important undertakings, and anything started on February 29 is sure of success. Such a year also allows girls to propose to their chosen men with no sense of embarrassment and every hope of success. The Scots take a particular delight in this old tradition - though there is one condition that the girls must all observe, or the men can reject their advances without fear of bad luck. Every girl must wear a scarlet flannel petticoat which is at least partly visible below her dress!
