Zoom

Yesterday's mirror lens purchase got put to the test this evening. Chinon 300mm f5.6 Pentax KM fit which translates t0 600mm once it's mounted on the E-P1. I had a brief play with it last night and when it is pointed at lights out of focus it produces the desired classic mirror ring effect that I was after, though without a tripod there was little hope of getting a steady shot (the long focal length of course meaning it needs to be at around 1/300th of a second handheld to negate camera shake) and as I was a t a gig having a night out with friends the camera shake was very evident. Standing it on a ledge was steady enough to test out it's zoom capability, which is rather decent, will have to do some comparisons to get a grip on it properly. It has tendency to wash out colours slightly but those are easily brought back up in the RAW conversion. All in all I'm very pleased with it, especially for under £50.

The rest of the day was mainly taken up with washing, ironing and general work of the house variety.
