Pride...the good kind

The graduation ceremony in Thailand is a big deal. At Ramkhamhaeng University, the princess (yes, the daughter of the king, the most respected man in Thailand) will pass out diplomas to each of the graduates at the real ceremony next week.

This week was the second practice run. No one is actually allowed to watch the ceremony, but tens of thousands of friends and family members come to take pictures afterward and celebrate with the graduate.

NaamFon and I left her house at 5:30 a.m. so she would have time to get her hair and make up done. At 9:00 she went through the doors of the Humanities building and I sat down to do Thai homework. Around 3:00 she emerged from the building with a great big smile. Many friends came bearing more flowers than she could hold, and we all took pictures until 6:30 pm. It was quite a full but exciting day.
