Catkins of The Twisted Hazel

The catkins of the twisted hazel have been waiting all winter to drop and open. In the photo you can see the open male catkin which will shed pollen, a still compact catkin and the small female catkin that looks like a red star. I love my little hazel when it is at this stage.
