Between fen and mountains

Cheese

I know there are about 350-400 varieties of French cheese and I like most of them. The French can be justly proud of this splendid variety and quality. However, when my French friends say English cheese is rubbish I ask them if they have eaten an English stilton or a mature farmhouse cheddar. The answer, of course is usually no. They almost certainly will not have tried Lincolnshire Poacher, Lincolnshire red, Cote Hill Farm blue, yellow or red and yet these are excellent cheeses.
