Caterpillars all'Amatriciana

As I was cooking up yet another cherry tomato recipe, I ran out to the garden to snip some herbs. I found these two hitchhikers in my bunch of parsley -- just as I was about to take a chef's knife to it and add the parsley to the sauce.

This isn't the best photo, but it was the best I could do after tossing the parsley back out on the sidewalk, running back in and giving the sauce a stir, draining the spaghetti, grabbing the camera and trying to focus on these creepy crawlies.

(BTW - They're black swallowtail caterpillars, so I'm kind of excited about the prospect of looking for -- and photographing -- some black swallowtails next year in my garden.)
