Earthrise

Wet Sunday. For no particular reason I was looking at 'Earthrise' (NASA image AS8-14-2383), one of the most famous pictures in photographic history and decided to have a go at re-creating it. The original was taken by astronaut William Anders on December 24, 1968 with a Hasselblad camera during the Apollo 8 mission and has been called "the most influential environmental photograph ever taken." I created my version rather more cheaply using a child's globe lamp and an inverted-oil-on-water image to create the arc of lunar surface. The orientation of the original is quite different with the south pole to the left and north to right but look how easy it is to fake this stuff.....
