having your cake and ....

A highly embarrassed pupil barged into my classroom early this morning, muttered something about it being his birthday, and rushed out again, leaving a chocolate cup cake on my desk.
Curiosity!
I last ate a cup cake over 40 years ago when I was at boarding school. Was it still the same?
Having seen that it had come from a newly opened box of cakes and had been handled by the foil casing, it was safe to eat ...if I dared!
One bite was enough! The taste was the same but it was SO sweet!
How did I ever used to peel off the icing cap and eat it last?!!
