Get thee married!

This mural is high up in the Palace of Westminster. I was there today for a meeting and (not really allowed to take pictures - so please don't tell), here is one of my favourite 'muriels'.

I have always loved it: "The Commons petitioning Queen Elizabeth to Marry". Obviously not the current monarch, silly. It's the "Virgin Queen" we're talking about here!

Needless to say, she never married, and the royal line of succession was - well, as it was. Continued elsewhere. Tudors, Stuarts, Hanoverians...

Funny things, Royal Families. If you are in the UK, you are currently ruled by the House of Hanover & Saxe-Coburg.

Enjoy it while you can, but - be aware - I'm a republican.
