Full Court Press

This is one of many outdoor courts around Portland that have been refurbished by Nike using recycled Nike shoes. This one is at the Strohecker's park that we frequent. We had some great rain while playing there. The girls got good and wet, particularly from the slide. I like the rain. It makes everything look so good. Here is another blip of the same park.

Unfortunately things are not going so well for our dog Addie. Yesterday we thought she was on the mend, but at about 10 last night she throw up again and became very despondent. All this morning she remained the same so we took her in to the emergency clinic. To make a long story short, there is something seriously wrong with her gut. She is now having exploratory surgery to see if they can figure out what is going on. I should be getting a call later tonight on how things went. Hopefully this resolves itself to a good result. This is the first night in eight years that we've been at home without Addie. Feels very strange.

A lot of emotions have surfaced during this whole process. It's surprising how serious things can suddenly become. How the real possibility of the unthinkable starts to take shape. I don't think Addie is in any immediate danger but the experience so far has made be think of what if this had happened to one of the girls or to Kim. It's very hard to think about. Just makes me thankful for what we do have. Anyway, fingers crossed Addie gets sorted.

Update: They found a bunch of chewed up plastic lodged in the bottom of her stomach and some other plastic pieces further down. So that is a good result. Once she heals she should be a okay :) Phew! I like when it's simple.
