Through adversity to the stars

As it says on the tin - this is the Hurricane memorial at Kent International airport. The other half of the building is the Spitfire memorial and inside are examples of each aircraft and a wonderful display of memorabilia from the Second World War. In a previous incarnation this was RAF Manston - the British airfield closest to the occupied French coast and subject to so many attacks that fighter squadrons were not based there overnight during parts of the war. There is also a smashing museum showing the history of the military airfield from 1916 to 1999 when the RAF left and it houses examples of aircraft and vehicles as well as photographs and displays.

Well worth a visit - I was there after a tutorial in Canterbury. Now I'll snoozle in front of the TV until it's time for me bed. I hope you are also enjoying a rock and roll Saturday!
