Tooting Broadway was catapulted to media prominence by Wolfie Smith a.k.a. Citizen Smith

Now in reviewing the classic title sequence, I realised that in the period since it was filmed, they have moved the statute of Edward VII from the centre of the street to the current position just in front of the tube entrance.

Citizen Smith was a good republican like myself and would probably have preferred the statute had been melted down and not just moved.
