Wind farm in California

Heading to and from rugby on weekends are these monolithic windmills that look like a set design from the film "Contact." A single blade is transported by road on a very long flatbed of a semitruck. At night, the farm is visible from 30 miles away due to the red lights blinking slowly in unison.

(Yes, it's creepy seeing the synchronized blinking in unison thing for the first time. I half-expected something unidentifiable to land. )
