Oklahoma!

Originally called Away We Go! for its out-of-town tryouts, the show's format changed only slightly by the time it reached Broadway in March 1943. A spirited closing number, Oklahoma!, had been added which also became the musical's punchy new title.

Earlier this afternoon, I was passing the antique shop at the junction of Kent Road and Argyle Street when I spotted a trunk with a label attached. The word Oklahoma immediately jumped out at me.

Smart men Rodgers and Hammerstein...
