Italian meanderings

Forte Monteratti

This has to be my favourite fort in Genova. It's massive and, although large parts of it are crumbling away, you can still walk through pretty much all of it. If you take a torch you can make it through some passageways to where Austrian prisoners were held in WWI. There's still a lot of writing on the walls from back then. I'm always amazed how few people visit it. Admittedly it's quite a long trek to get up there but it's well worth it.
