Jeffing

At beautiful Union Chapel for the second night running to see Jeff Mangum. With his band Neutral Milk Hotel he made two albums in the 90s, the second of which, In An Aeroplane Over The Sea, earned him the kind of rapturous awe that drives some people over the edge. He was one such person, and he vanished from the public eye shortly after its release.

A year ago the idea any of us might ever see him in the flesh was fanciful at best. And that's why last night was a bit intense and a lot special.

And that's why I raked Twitter and forums for spare tickets to see him a second time. (Tonight's was even better.)

And that's why these three got to the venue in mid-afternoon to make sure they got frontrow seats - in the case of the couple on the right, for the second night running.

These are my people. And speaking of which, here's Mangum playing Occupy Wall Street in October.
