Optic Nerve

New Feet

A quick snap of a screen of an xray of a post-op pair of feet.
Today I stepped in once again to escort Mary Ann to the hospital at Emersons Green - the dishy surgeon gave an all-clear on the bone healing process and she finally left behind, the strange fugly platform shoes that have been protecting her toes from carrying any weight for the last 6 weeks. the only worry - a re-routed inflamed nerve has flared up due to all the fab foot re-jigging.'
NOT that the bones were rejecting the pins / staple or early stages of the onset of gangrene or indeed anything leading to the dreaded potential plan-B: toe-bone fusing .. Instead: A complete AOK - and none of the demons that grow fear in the too-much-time-to-think hypochondriac mind of someone undergoing such an intense combination of healing and pain.
Oddly, the pain level seemed to recede slightly - immediately soothed by another 6 week sicknote in order to regain complete mobility and to allow the irritated, synapse-triggering final stage symptom of this major surgical procedure to calm with no employment stress.
A celebratory night was enjoyed - with a little bubbly, a game of chess, tea & cake - and plenty of funky/chilled music into the early hours - prompting several happy episodes of old-school fab foot re-jigging - re-learning balance, posture and the joys of foot freedom on new feet..
