A few days ago I spent an exhausting morning sawing off a large and very heavy branch of a sycamore tree.

Thirty years ago when I planted the tree, it looked like this. Is it not truly amazing what a tree can do with a bit of sunshine, a smidgin of carbon dioxide and a few nutrients?
