Life is a Minestrone !!

Something closer to home........

We're forecast rain for most of the day today, so i thought i'd make the most of first light this morning.

Everything was so still and quiet, well not really quiet or still for that matter.....

The sparrows make so much noise in the hedges you can hear them probaby as much as 60 feet away. It's a joy to watch passers by stopping at the top of the drive pearing into the garden looking for the birds making all that noise.

I'm still suprised at how easily the Sparrows spook, they're either on the lawn or feeders eating, then in an instance they've all dived into the hedge, all still tweeting but nowhere to be seen.

The pair of Blackbirds watch out for each other as they forage for worms and grubs either on the lawn or the overgrown borders, while two male Wood Pidgeons fight for the attentions of a solitary female. We have a row of very tall trees directly opposite our house which are green year round, very very thick foliage. There's currently a group of eight or ten Wood Pidgeons roosting in the tree directly
opposite our house. In the next tree along there's a pair of Collared Doves.

Did i mention the Robins......?? Yes the Robins are still nesting next to the front door, if we're coming and going we try not to stop and look at the nest for fear of disturbing the birds and causing them to abandon the nest.

The front garden is alive pretty much all day, starting with the Robins and Blackbirds singing from around 4-30 in the morning on the telephone wires outside the bedroom window, until the Blackbirds finally stop routing around in the gloom at about 6-45pm.

Our back garden unfortunately, has declined in activity due to the arrival of our "Resident" Sparrowhawks........

No Goldfinches, Green finches, Chaffinches, Coal tits for months, just the occasional visit from Blue and Great tits...........Hyper Squirrel doesn't even show up anymore.

The Sparrowhawks are very pretty, nut they're a real pain in the arse........!!

Wow, is that the time..........Oh, the rain's have arrived.......!!

Time for a shave and shower, then a day full of pottering about, heading towards a date with Bev's "Sticky Chicken Stir Fry" at around seven tonight, washed down with a couple of bottles of wine.

("Sticky Chicken Stir Fry" isn't a euphemism for anything else by the way :-( )

Happy Days.......!!

Thanks for stopping by, and stay dry.......!!

j.

Oh, she's worth looking at large........!!
