Mother

It's my mother's birthday tomorrow; she'll be 89 and is looked after in a care home just outside Hull.

Because I won't be at home tomorrow to take this photo, I thought I'd publish it today. I'm not sure how old she was in this photo, but obviously a lot younger than she is now. I love this picture and have it on the mantelpiece at home.

It sums up her personality, she was always outgoing and sociable, and a lovely smile; and it makes me sad that now in the throes of Alzheimer's she sits quietly in her armchair, her short term memory completely shot. All I can hope is that she is peaceful within herself.
