Mill Glen

The Mill Glen in Tillicoultry has been a centre of local industry for centuries.

Copper, silver and quartz-dolorite were mined here and the burn was once the source of power for a whole series of textile mills. Now they're all silent.

But I've been wondering - why don't we harness this potential energy now?

I mean they could easily house a number of micro hydro-electric plants. They may be pretty small-scale but together they might just be able to produce enough power for some of the local community's needs.

There are loads of old mill towns around the country that used to rely on water power for their industries. Come on Scotland!

Am I on to something or what?
