The high road

Juxtaposition!

My morning took me into an unfamiliar part of West Cork, although my blip is quite typical!
I thought there was an interesting mix of old and new land uses here! There are two abandoned farmhouses and some old stone field boundaries on the rough land, the latter could predate the famine. The bright green fields are well fertilized, ready for a spring cut of silage and the patches of dark green are forestry, which is more often than not a monoculture of Sitka spruce, another modern day phenomena in the landscape. Then of course the modern wind generators, which are becoming quite a common site on the hillsides around here!
