Up where the air is clear

We left early to drive up to Munnar, a well-known tea plantation area in Kerala. Here brightly coloured houses contrast with the tea bushes. Every slope, often way up to the hill tops is covered in bushes - 1600 metres. The pattern is made up by narrow paths around each bush.

We discovered how the leaves are picked and processed at the tea museum and finished up with a true cup of chai - delicious.

On the way up we also discovered how cardamom grows - the seeds of a pretty pink flower which are at the base of long stemmed leaves 4 ft high. They were on such steeped sloped we couldn't quite see how you'd harvest them.

Please do look back over the last few days if you've missed any Kerala pics.
