How to Dress a Salmon

This evening was the NSEA (Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association) annual Community Celebration to honor the past year's accomplishments. There's always plenty of good food (yes, smoked salmon!) and beer from Boundary Bay Brewery, and interesting items to bid on in a silent auction, as well as lots of people to chat with. Phil's been active in NSEA since we moved here in 2002 and has served on the board for several years.

While he helped with the event preparations, I strolled around downtown Bellingham for a little while, enjoying seasonal art and new blossoms brought on by today's much-appreciated sunshine.

Phil and I enjoyed watching "Sammy the Salmon," stationed outside the event venue, wave at cars passing by and seeing most of the drivers wave back. We especially enjoyed watching "Sammy" put on his flashy red vest -- in rather unusual fashion and with some much-needed help -- and seeing how he looked when almost everything was in place.

(I didn't do comments today, but will catch up over the weekend. Guess I could say that the sun went to my head!)
