Magnolia

Before moving on to today's Blip, , can I just say how overwhelmed I was with the reponse to yesterday. Not only were there a host of comments, but the crowning glory was ------ it was also 'Spotlighted' and 'Favouriteded' not once but EIGHT times!!This is by far the biggest response I have ever had.
I spent this morning reading all your comments to mum and she seemed to be 'uplifted' by them. Infact, I am now finding myself in the company of a DIVA, as she is already planning my next Blip of her, ha ha !! It has been such a tonic for mum ,so all I can do is thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. It made one old lady very very happy.

Magnolia is an ancient genus. Having evolved before bees appeared, the flowers developed to encourage pollination by beetles. To avoid damage from pollinating beetles, the carpels of Magnolia flowers are extremely tough. Fossilised specimens of Magnolia have been found dating back 95 million years .Another primitive aspect of Magnolias is their lack of distinct sepals or petals: Magnolias possess undifferentiated flower parts for which the term "tepals" was coined.
