Glenochar

This was another place we'd not seen before. Its the Glenochar Bastle House - basically a form of fortified farm that dates back to the 16th (or so) century. An elaborate system of bunkers, walls and underground byres kept the pesky English out and prevented them from stealing all the cattle. They're an exclusive feature of the Scottish borders and this is a pretty well preserved example. Although, not that much of it remains.

And its not a typo, either. It's thought the name "Bastle" is derived from the French "Bastille"
